Doors of Itea by Ersi Moscahlaidis
I recently came across a photo selection of Mrs. Ersi Moscahlaidis. The artist's collection is remarkable. Here is a small sample of her inspired views.
January 29, 2009-Operating again
Following up on the previous post, life in Vagonetto is back to normal.
The farmer's protest, briefly disrupted the operations. Fully functional again as of today January 29.
See you soon in Vagonetto

Farmers protesting
Over the past 10 days, farmers are protesting and obstructing the passage of vehicles. As a result of that, a lot of individual and group visitors are unable to visit Vagonetto.
Regrettably Vagonetto will remain closed on January 28, 2009.
Visit again for updates.

A mine with a view
A picture is worth a thousand words. Well how about a video?
I have a hunch that you are going to love this one. Imagine...
Our life depends on minerals
A week ago, I got my hands on a very nice pamphlet, produced by SME -Association of Mining Companies. Reading through the pages, I realized that our lives, depend on minerals of some sort. Triggered as I was, I decided to share my discovery with you.
Look around you. You see cars, airplanes, ships, buildings, roads, bicycles, TV sets, cell phones, fax machines and printers, keyboards and mouses, computers and monitors, kitchen utensils, your toothpaste and your watch.... To name just very few.
Nearly everything we use in our daily life derives from one or more minerals that are "magically" transformed into things that our life depends on. Like a lamp or an incubator or a pacemaker.
Producing this post and reading it depends on minerals. Wow!!!
Can we have internet without copper?
The cans with our favorite sodas are made from aluminum. That's something you have learned after visiting Vagonetto.
At the end of the day it's all about the earth and viable growth. Since our life depends on minerals, what we humans need to do, is get these things out of the earth, in such a manner and fashion, that next generations will not be short of the things we enjoy today.
To find out more, visit SME site at www.sme.gr and www.orykta.gr Much to my regret both sites are currently in Greek only.

New installations-Coming soon
I was rather hesitant in mentioning the new installations in Vagonetto but in a surprisingly unexpected manner, visitors keep querying about them. That forces me to share a short description. We don't really want to spoil the surprise? Do we?
On a brief, we are currently testing the animated tour of alumina extraction from bauxite and the virtual drilling methods. The latter is an impressive 3D tour, whereby spectators will virtually "drill" holes to discover bauxite.
New installations will be available to visit during the first fortnight of February 2009.
